The Marcus King Band will release their third full-length studio album, Carolina Confessions, next month on October 5, and today we present another preview of the effort with new single “Goodbye Carolina.”

The six-plus-minute track was inspired by King leaving his hometown in South Carolina, along with the loss of a friend to suicide, and it touches on several of the young guitarist and his band’s strengths, opening with an acoustic-guitar-led verse and opening chorus, in which King sings, “Goodbye Carolina/ Searched my whole life to find you/ Hate to leave you but I hope you know/ Where I’m going I’ll be seeing you.” King’s slide guitar then launches the song to another level, setting the tone for an emotion-packed offering featuring soaring vocals and guitar, along with some horn-section additions later on in the track.

“Goodbye Carolina” follows up previously released Carolina Confessions singles “Welcome ‘Round Here,” “Homesick” and “Where I’m Headed.”

Listen to the new track below.King and company have a packed fall tour schedule ahead of them, with their next show scheduled for tonight in Birmingham, AL. See the group’s full tour dates here.
