Premiere: The Lone Bellow “Wonder”

On February 7, 2020, Dualtone Records will release the fourth studio record from The Lone Bellow. Half Moon Light is the long-anticipated follow-up to 2017’s Walk Into a Storm. The National’s  Aaron Dessner produced the record at his studio in upstate New York studio, and in addition to The Lone Bellow’s Zach Williams, Kanene Donehey Pipkin and Brian Elmquist, the sessions included guitarist Josh Kaufman and drummer J.T. Baites. Today we premiere “Wonder” Half Moon Light, which is now available for pre-order.

Williams reflects on the moving, wistful “Wonder,” observing, “When the day is done I often find myself wondering if I am losing my sense of wonder.  My mind goes back to very specific memories.  One is of my cousin and I driving in his old S10 pickup truck with a tape of Astral Weeks in the deck that we found in his brother’s room.  I remember watching the pine trees go by in the truck’s windows as we sang ‘and it stoned me to my soul.’  I remember the hope of the future and the absolute awe of life just pouring in to our 16-year old minds.  I never want to lose that sense of wonder. I think that probably goes for all of us.”
