Premiere: Larkin Poe’s Video for “She’s A Self Made Man,” Lead Track from Forthcoming Album

On May 1, Larkin Poe will return with a new album, Self Made Man. This is Rebecca and Megan Lovell’s follow-up to 2018’s Venom & Faith, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Blues Album chart and also yielded a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album. While the gifted multi-instrumentalists have achieved acclaim for their blues-based sound, the Nashville-based sisters, who have opened arena shows for Bob Seger and Keith Urban, also delve deep into the roots and rock realms.

Today we premiere the video for “She’s a Self Made Man,” the lead track from the forthcoming record (which is now available for pre-order, including a variety of packages from the band). As Rebecca notes, “Life is all about balance. Sometimes it’s sweet, sometimes it’s sour. With ‘She’s A Self Made Man’, I wanted to write a song about the up-and-down ride that Megan and I have been on for the past ten years of building Larkin Poe. It’s hard to know who you are and it can take time to figure out what your purpose is, but I feel thankful that in recent years, my own feelings have started to click and make sense. Knowing and accepting yourself: that is empowerment.”

Robby Klein directed the video for ‘She’s A Self Made Man, and the Lovells reflect, “As sisters, we have never felt more empowered. We’re Grammy-nominated artists/producers, we own our own record label, and we can chase whatever creative dreams we want to chase. When a self made man can put on red lipstick and film her own rock n roll music video? That’s a cool time to be alive.”
