John Mayer’s ‘Continuum’ Turns 10 This Week So Let’s Revisit That Incredible “Bold As Love” Cover

John Mayer released one of his finest collection of tunes, 2006’s Continuum, ten years ago yesterday. And since it wasn’t all that cool to like Mayer then and it is now, it’s now okay to pay proper due to a very, very good blues guitar record anchored by a jaw-dropping cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Bold As Love.”

Continuum features some of Mayer’s best solo work if you can get over the “Waiting On the World to Change” opener. Tracks like “Vultures,” written with John Mayer Trio bandmates Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino, the slow-build of “Gravity” and the somber “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room.” Mayer’s third solo effort and final since 2009’s Battle Studies launched him into the stratosphere as an artist, but this cover of Hendrix’s “Bold As Love” showed off the blues guitar phenom he has always been since the early days at Berklee.

Watch Mayer, Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino cover “Bold As Love” as a part of his Where The Light Is live release.
