Jason Isbell Brings ‘Something More Than Free’ to ‘Colbert’
Before Jason Isbell hit the stage for the first of two sold out shows at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, the Muscle Shoals singer-songwriter brought his band, the 400 Unit, to the late night stage as the group delivered “If It Takes a Lifetime” on Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The performance comes just a week after Isbell took home a pair of Grammys for his outstanding latest effort, Something More Than Free.
During his show at the Beacon, Isbell remarked that he and the band probably played “If It Takes a Lifetime” fourteen times today, referencing the rehearsals for Colbert. To kick off the show, Isbell humorously said, “Well, the way I see it we’ve got about 245 more of these to go before we’re tied with the Allman Brothers.”
