On October 23, 1998, one helluva classic jamband summit took place at—where else—NYC’s legendary Wetlands Preserve, when The Disco Biscuits, The Slip, Oteil & The Peacemakers and Mike Keneally & BFD all took the stage as part of a book-release party curated by current Relix editor-in-chief (and founder of then-nascent Jambands.com) Dean Budnick in support of his new tome, Jam Bands: North America’s Hottest Live Groups, Plus How to Tape and Trade Their Shows.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of this show—along with just over 20 years since Jambands.com was founded in mid-September 1998—we’re listening back to a recording of The Disco Biscuits’ headlining set at Wetlands that night, which just happened to feature a special vocal jam dedicated to Budnick himself.

“They called me to the front of the stage and handed me a mini pumpkin that had been placed there as a decoration,” Budnick recalls. “Then they let it fly. Super goofy fun.” Below, listen to a recording of the full show (especially tracks 21 and 22) for some throwback antics. (Thanks to @blanksandpostage on Instagram for their #ticketstubtuesday post!)
