The Rolling Stones have continued to steadily tease a new project through more or less discrete means.

After wheat-pasted posters in London promoted The Cockroaches, an old Stones alias, and that pseudonymous band quietly released the limited-edition white-label vinyl single “Rough and Twisted” two weeks ago, the conspiracy has gone global, with billboard sightings in cities around the world. Apart from the iconic tongue and lips logo, those signs include phrases like “Fremmede Sprog,” “Vreemde Tongen,” “Dayuhang Dila,” “외국어,” and “Langues Étrangères” – “Foreign Tongues” in foreign tongues. There’s also a QR code, which reportedly links to the band’s Subversive Scents fragrance line.

The Rolling Stones store in London is now decked out in the same style, and between lines of text, there’s a digital clock counting down to May 5. It seems safe to assume that we’ll hear more from the band then. Until that time, they’ve continued to confirm their mysterious promotional moves with posts on their official social channels, and beyond their main account, they’ve shared more through a burner Instagram account. A user titled thecockroaches2026 posted the same posters seen around London and later shared a pro-shot video of a man, wearing a “Who the Fuck are The Cockroaches” shirt, spinning the “Rough and Twisted” record. Yesterday, the page shared what seems to be a clip from the project’s next single.
