Gov’t Mule and Ziggy Marley are currently on the road as part of the joint Dreaming The Same Dream Tour. Yola is rounding out the offerings with DJ sets each night and, over the weekend, the soul singer emerged during Gov’t Mule’s show for a few bonus appearances.
Though neither the tour’s opening night at New York’s Pier 17 on Wednesday or Friday’s stop at Asheville, NC’s Hellbender featured any inter-band cross-pollination, on Saturday at Raleigh, NC’s Red Hat Amphitheater, Yola joined Gov’t Mule for a Janis Joplin-inspired cover of “Me and Bobby McGee.” Then, last night at Richmond, VA’s Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront, Yola sat in with Gov’t Mule once again, this time for a take on Led Zeppelin’s classic rocker “Black Dog.” So far, members of Marley’s band have not collaborated with Gov’t Mule, though that may change as the tour progresses.
The Dreaming The Same Dream Tour will continue at Key West, FL’s Coffee Butler Amphitheater tomorrow.
