Matisyahu’s 18th Annual Festival of Lights Celebration to Revisit ‘Live at Stubbs’

Matisyahu has shared details about his 18th annual Festival of Lights Hanukkah shows, which will take place at two locations this holiday season. The yearly observance and musical event begins on December 14-15, at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, N.Y., with a pair of follow-ups slated for the Miami Bandshell on December 20-21.
The approaching concert will feature the musical host delivering a two-set performance that honors the 20th anniversary of his Certified gold LP, Live at Stubbs, with a complete album staging paired with a complementary set of fan favorites and material from his latest album, Ancient Child, which is due out on October 4.
In addition to the musical component, which features a full band comprised of Aaron Dugan on guitar, Rob Marscher on keyboards, Jason Fraticelli on bass, and Ben Atkind on drums, the events will also include an on-stage menorah lighting and a festive disco dreidel ball.
“I am very happy to bring the original music together with the new music as I gear up for the release of Ancient Child,” shares Matisyahu. “Things feel full circle as we celebrate 20 years since Stubbs and 18 Festival of Lights.”
Setting his intentions for the shows, he continues: “We will play the original Live at Stubb’s set first and then move onto the music from my 8th studio release, Ancient Child, in the second set. We will also play the classics you love and expect candle melting jams from my all-star band, who are also my close friends of over 20 years. We are celebrating life, music, and the triumph of light over darkness. Come shine with us.”
Ahead of Matisyahu’s Festival of Lights Hanukkah shows, he will unveil his eighth full-length album, the 12-collection dubbed Ancient Child. According to the musician’s press release, the set “investigates questions about history, identity, and destiny from the humility of a child through the wisdom of the generations’ past.”
In support of the album, Matisyahu will embark on a 15-stop headlining tour, beginning on October 11 in Buffalo, N.Y., and reaching cities from Boston to Philadelphia and St. Petersburg, Fla. For tickets and more information, visit matisyahuworld.com.
