Like recent tourmates The Mowgli’s and national hitmakers Grouplove, Hunter Hunted’s a Cali-sundrenched, co-ed pop-rock crew with gang vocals and catchy choruses full of handclap sing-along sections and “ooh-a-oohs” and “whoa-a-ohs.” Their debut EP also has a bit of fun.- sized production gloss, but that doesn’t steal from its sizzle: The single “Keep Together” is a beach-ready summer earworm and “Gentle Folks” resonates with “Hey” shouts that’ll make you almost forget that the last Edward Sharpe album was such a disappointment. They’re not really treading any new ground, but that’s fine. The world could always use some more happy campers and these guys and gals are opening the window to let the sun shine in.
