Self-released

A mainstay at summer festivals, the Chicago-based electronic act Digital Tape Machine have finally released their long-anticipated debut album. The seven-piece, which features members of Chicago bands Umphrey’s McGee, Liquid Soul, Strange Arrangement, Land of Atlantis and The Hue, draws from all of their individual influences to form a collective wall of sound, spanning ten tracks and nearly 65 minutes of music. Each track touches on a different area of the electronic spectrum, from the aggressive opening of “White Light” and the ambient title track “Be Here Now” to the frenetic “Great Dane” and the bipolar “G R P.” Be Here Now has a seamless and thoughtful flow throughout, making it an effortless and enjoyable listen. Whether you’re a fan of electronic music or not, there is something in this album for everyone. It is truly a progressive electronic record at heart.
