Watch: The Strokes Perform Clairo’s Song “Sofia” at NOS Alive 2022

Last night, The Strokes performed at NOS Alive 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal; during their set, they shared a distinct version of Clairo’s “Sofia” as a nod to the singer/songwriter who was slated to appear at the festival but was unable to attend after an issue with her flight.
“Sofia” comes off the Carlisle, Mass.-raised artist’s 2019 debut LP Immunity, and was all the sweeter as she has been crediting a new generation of music fans to The Strokes’ music with her cover of their beloved song “I’ll Try Anything Once.”
The reciprocal cover has become somewhat of a new phenomenon in recent years as bands continue to overcome both logistic and health challenges that remain in the post-COVID-19 touring era: Back in early June, Tame Impala covered The Strokes’ “Last Nite” at Primavera Sound after the New York icons we’re unable to perform as they were recovering from COVID-19, and it seems The Strokes appreciation for the nod may have started a tender pattern.
Additionally, earlier this week, Clairo and Phoebe Bridgers shared the stage in Milan, during which Bridgers joined Clairo on vocals on the 2019 track “Bags,” and later that evening, during Bridgers’ set, Clairo provided backing vocals on Bridgers’ “I Know The End.”
