Aaron Dessner sat in with Mumford & Sons at Boston’s Fenway Park on Tuesday night. The National guitarist, who contributed to the group’s 2025 album Rushmore and produced this year’s Prizefighter, emerged a few songs into the stadium show to play on the Prizefighter number “Rubber Band Man.” Then, a few songs later, he returned to the stage for another two tracks from the LP, “Here” and “Stay.” Of note, Mumford & Sons also performed “cowboy like me,” their contributions to Taylor’s 2020 record evermore, which Dessner played a key role in crafting, during their encore. An avid soccer fan, Dessner also wished the members of Mumford & Sons’ team good luck in the World Cup when he posted about it being an “honor” to join them on stage.

Andrew Barr currently serves as Mumford & Sons’ drummer and, due to his commitments to the band, was unable to make The Slip reunion that took place at Northlands. As previously reported, Joe Russo filled on behind the kit. “Truly a night to remember Fenway Park with Mumford & Sons,” the Rhode Island-bred Barr posted after the Fenway show. “Special thanks to the staff who took us inside the belly of the Green Monster!” Barr has contributed to a number of other albums Dessner has produced, as he discussed in a recent Relix interview.

Mumford & Sons will kick off an extensive European tour at Groningen, Netherlands’ Stadspark on July 1.
