Unbroken Chain: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Phil Lesh Adds John Kadlecik, Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams, Sam Grisman and More
Anticipation has been mounting for months for the second annual Unbroken Chain: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Phil Lesh, which will honor the late Grateful Dead bassist by continuing his legacy of birthday residencies at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. In the spirit of Lesh’s beloved annual tradition and after a triumphant inaugural run last year, Grahame Lesh will connect with a sprawling and star-studded ensemble of his father’s former collaborators and devotees for four nights of music from March 12-15.
As the long-awaited reunion rapidly approaches, The Cap has heightened expectations with some newly announced artists for the bill. On Thursday, March 12, the opening program will be bolstered by the arrival of Strangefolk guitarist and singer-songwriter Reid Genauer, plus a surprise special guest. Another mystery guest will sign on for Friday’s show, before Lesh and Bob Weir’s Furthur bandmate John Kadlecik joins in on Saturday. Finally, come Sunday, the closing program’s stacked lineup will welcome the storied duo of Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams and torch-bearing bassist Sam Grisman.
“We feel really lucky that we are able to continue to celebrate Phil’s birthday and do it with Grahame,” The Capitol Theatre owner Peter Shapiro reflected. “He will be leading an amazing group of musicians, many of whom previously joined Phil for his birthday shows at the Capitol. The tradition continues.”
