Umphrey’s McGee Bust Out “Burning Down the House” and “Two Tickets to Paradise”

Last night, Umphrey’s McGee rolled into Livingston, Mont. to begin a weekend residency at the Pine Creek Lodge. For the first of three performances at a venue that’s becoming an established multi-night destination for the pioneering progressive rock outfit, they tore through two sets of staple songs, each accented with an unexpected cover revival.

Umphrey’s McGee set off the fourth show in the latest leg of their inexhaustible 2026 tour itinerary with “Pure Saturation,” an entry from 2022’s Asking for a Friend that’s become a frequent flyer this year and segued into its proved counterpart of “Walletsworth.” After hitting other key cuts like “Phil’s Farm” and “No Diablo,” the band capped off the frame with a cover of Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House,” which they’ve interpreted 26 times since 198; last night was the high-spirited cover’s first appearance since 2012.

UM mounted up for another riotous ride in the second set with “Bad Friday,” then veered off into last year’s Blueprints highlight “Concessions.” Before long, they’d launched into “Thin Air,” and in the throes of a particularly inventive jam veered off into Eddie Money’s “Two Tickets to Paradise,” the radio-ready hard rock anthem they’d only taken on four ties before, and last in 2019. The evening’s second borrowed song transitioned back to “Thin Air” before a set closer of “The Silent Type,” and the band completed their performance with an encore of “The Floor.”

Umphrey’s McGee will perform at the Pine Creek Lodge again tonight. Find tickets and more information on their summer tour calendar at umphreys.com. Read on for the full setlist from Thursday night.
