Last night, The National’s Aaron Dessner joined Noah Kahan during his big show at Queens, NY’s CitiField. Dessner, who produced the rising Vermont singer/songwriter’s 2026 album The Great Divide, emerged during the night’s encore for “End of August,” a standout track the pair co-wrote for the new LP. Dessner has nurtured a second career as a pop-music producer since partnering with Taylor Swift on 2020’s folklore and evermore and has since joined several bands he has worked with at stadiums around the country, including Mumford & Sons earlier this summer. He also sat at the helm for close collaborator Grace Abrams’ third studio album, Daughter from Hell, which was released this past Friday.

During yesterday’s show, Kahan apologized for having to cancel the previous night’s CitiField concert due to weather. From the stage he said, “I’ve cancelled six in my life, and they’ve only ever been when we cannot do anything else but cancel the show. I would play in a fucking hole of a volcano for y’all. I promise you we did everything, everything we could. Weird shit to try to reschedule it, and I’m sorry. I just feel horrible, and I know people will see this and I just want you to know I’m really sorry. You deserve better than that.”

Kahan’s The Great Divide Tour continues at Washington, DC’s Nationals Park this coming Wednesday. Gigi Perez, who joined Kahan for a version of “She Calls Me Back” that was preceded by a Muppet video in Queens, and Annabelle Dinda will once again open.
