“This Ones for the Lovers”: The Roots Announce Valentine’s Day Return to Brooklyn Bowl New York, First Venue Appearance in Over a Decade
On Saturday, February 14, The Roots will return to New York’s Brooklyn Bowl for the first time in over a decade. The imminent performance marks a rare regional club appearance for the Grammy Award-winning musical partnership of Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter and Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson.
The Roots Present Play Another Slow Jam: A Special Valentine’s Day Performance is built around The Roots experience, with DJ Questlove signed on to spin songs on each end of the main performance–bookending the experience with love-soaked expressions of longing and devotion.
The forthcoming event represents a highly anticipated reflection for Questlove, who used to host a weekly DJ residency at Brooklyn Bowl New York and performed on the esteemed Williamsburg stage more than almost any other act.
In a post announcing the impending event, The Roots declared, “This one is for the Lovers.”
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, January 16, at noon EST.
