Shpongle Joins The String Cheese Incident at Electric Forest

The String Cheese Incident’s Saturday night performance at Electric Forest initially was slated to feature two sets by the group, with no additional intel provided. By the time band took the stage, however, this appearance was officially billed as The Shebongle Shebang ft. Shpongle and Johnathan Singer.

SCI emerged just prior to dusk and opened with “All We Got.” This was followed by “Restless Wind,” “Bhangra Saanj” and “Shantytown.” Then, during the band’s take on “Osiris” the set came to an early close due to technical difficulties. Once these were resolved the band resumed the tune for a second set that included “HiHo,” a move from “Joyful Sound” into “Rumble” and a version of “Fête Tama” with Kyle Hollingsworth on keyar.

Then following “Let’s Go Outside” and “Beautiful” Simon Posford took the stage behind a second keyboard rig, along with two-person horn section and complementary elevated visuals by Johnathan Singer. The Shebongle Shebang opened with SCI’s “Valley of the Jig” which was followed by “Dorset Perception” with Posford on guitar and “Dr Vinklestein Says,” which concluded with a fireworks display.

SCI is off until two Red Rocks dates on July 17 and 18, while Shpongle is will next perform in Europe.
