Phish returned to Alpharetta, Ga.’s Ameris Bank Amphitheatre last night for their second night at the familiar venue and the fifth performance in their eight-stop late-summer tour. As the legendary jamband moved to the second half of their final tour of 2025, the momentum from the road charged an energetic two-set performance featuring the series’ most expansive jam yet.
Phish set off their first frame last night with “Wolfman’s Brother,” stretching the Hoist favorite’s joyous funk out for 14 minutes before moving into short and sweet treatments of “Llama” and the Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House-inspired “Martian Monster.” After nine years on the shelf and a resurrection at the band’s North Charleston Coliseum stop in July, Phish shook the last bits of dust off “Devotion to a Dream,” then darted up to an atmospheric peak with a 15-minute “Divided Sky.” “Axilla (Part II)” led the group into the shadowy slink of “Hey Stranger,” building power for a set-closing medley of “Steam,” “Wilson” and “Taste.”
Following a brief intermission, Phish wasted no time before tearing into the highlight of the show at the top of their second set. “Carini” quickly became something entirely distinct from the song’s roots, following its heavy riffs and full-throttle propulsion into a series of distantly related passages that saw the band freely constructing new melodic and rhythmic structures with close and nimble interplay. After 27 minutes of total freedom, during which the quartet navigated several spare, dissonant pits and ascendant climbs, they rode the song’s most radiant moment into “Light,” infused with many of the themes crafted through the previous half-hour, before seguing into the final phase of “Carini.”
The latter half of Phish’s final frame gave the crowd little opportunity to recollect, as the final chords of “Carini” sent the band spiralling right into a tight, churning 17-minute “Sand,” followed by “Piper,” “The Lizards” and a 24-minute grand finale of “You Enjoy Myself.” For one last lighthearted statement of appreciation for the Peach State audience and a longtime home venue, the quartet offered up “Meatstick.”
Phish will return to the stage tomorrow, Sept. 19, to commence a three-night return to Hampton, Va.’s Hampton Coliseum. Find tickets and more information at phish.com. On Tuesday, Phish announced their 2025 New Year’s run at Madison Square Garden. Learn more here.
