Molly Tuttle, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Tyler Childers and Brandi Carlile Among Winners at Americana Music Honors & Awards

The 25th Annual Americana Honors & Awards delivered some high profile musical performances last night at the Ryman in Nashville. As noted earlier, the four surviving original Heartbreakers reunited and performed three songs with Chris Stapleton. During this portion of the show Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Similar plaudits also were handed to Robert Plant and Dolly Parton (who recorded her acceptance speech in advance).A number of other artists also were recognized during the ceremony. Molly Tuttle was named Artist of the Year for the first time in her career. For the second year in a row Gillian Welch & David Rawlings took home Duo/Group of the Year honors. Tyler Childers received Album of the Year for Snipe Hunter. Brandi Carlile’s “Returning to Me,” the title track to her latest album was Song of the Year. Mandy Far was named Instrumentalist of the Year.
