Mike Campbell Confirms Fall Dates with The Dirty Knobs, Atlanta Symphony Show

Mike Campbell, who is best known as the lead guitarist of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and co-author of some of the group’s biggest songs, has confirmed a round of fall dates with his band The Dirty Knobs. The musicians are currently touring in support of their fourth album, Mission of Mercy, which was released on June 12. Their Nnew dates include stops at New York’s Town Hall, Washington, DC’s Warner Theatre and New Orleans’ Joy Theatre, among other locations. As previously reported, the musicians will also appear at Nashville’s AmericanaFest as well as Farm Aid in Virginia Beach this September

“Well, you won’t hear us doing any disco or any jazz or hip-hop,” Campbell said in a recent site interview.  “We appreciate all those other things, but we’re a rock-and-roll band, basically, and we’re a song-oriented band. When I write songs, I draw from the things that inspired me back when I was a kid, like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, the Stones. Those are the things that come out in the songs in different ways.”

The Dirty Knobs have a number of July concerts on the books as well and Campbell will perform with The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at Atlanta Symphony Hall on September 12. Campbell, who has worked with Chris Stapleton in the studio and on the road in the past, and the rest of The Dirty Knobs will also support the country star at Bristow, VA’s Jiffy Lube Live on October 2.

Campbell’s best-selling memoir, Heartbreaker, came out in paperback on May 5.
