As previously reported, Little Feat have announced The Last Farewell Tour. The group clarifies, “Our intention is to retire Feat’s trusty bus and stop touring, although definitely not stop playing.” The spring leg of dates will begin on April 10 and extend through May 9. The band has just added another series of shows that will kick off on May 24 at Dark Star Jubilee and continue through August 22 at the Paramount Theatre in Denver. Tickets to most of these performances will go on sale Friday, February 6.

Bill Payne, whose tenure in Little Feat extends from its formation in 1969 through the present, adds, “My hope is ‘The Last Farewell Tour’ resembles a long passionate kiss, a prolonged warm hug, giving us all time to embrace this special moment to remember our collective past with those here and others departed but still in our hearts. This is a celebration that acknowledges gratitude to all for an unforgettable journey, mingled with joy, sadness, but no regrets. Let’s allow some time for all of this to play out. We still have a lot to say and share. All endings suggest new beginnings.”

In conjunction with this announcement the group has created a new video for “Long Distance Love,” from the group’s 1975 release The Last Record Album, which was re-recorded with Amy Helm during the pandemic. The audio is now available for pre-save and we are premiering the video today.

Feat guitarist Scott Sharrard tells Relix, “In the summer of 2020, and the early days of the pandemic, Little Feat was reformed and reborn with a remake of the Lowell George masterpiece “Long Distance Love’. Looking back on this time, and rewatching the video today, where we are all alone in our homes, backyards and friends’ studios, its a reminder of how far we have come since those early days in our reformation of the band. The linchpin of this undertaking at that time was the recent addition of Tony Leone on drums. Playing this deceptively simple Feat ballad was one hell of an “audition”. Tony’s ability to honor the grace and ingenuity of Richie Haywards precision, while quietly injecting his own subtle and nuanced swing was a bit of a magic trick, especially under the recording circumstances where we could not be together as a band.

“The track is a testament to resiliency in the face of adversity, and a tribute to the band’s legacy, and our incredible musical community of fans and musical collaborators. Amy Helm has been a good friend to us all for many years, and singing this track with her was like a family reunion that really added the special sauce to this reinterpretation. Bill Payne’s keyboard intro and coda gave us a welcome reframing of the piece. Bill is the master of the vibe shift, and I’m so grateful that he composed those sections to help revisit this classic tune. Though we have all been reunited in person and persevered as a band through two album cycles and many tours, there is a yearning in this songs lyrics that rings more true every day as we navigate these trying times. Great music is timeless and essential for our healing. Little Feat will continue to spread the message of unity, funk and soul as we embark on our farewell tour together in 2026.”

In other band news, the world premiere of Little Feat: The Documentary is set for Saturday, February 21 at the Wilma Theatre in Missoula, MT as part of the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival.
