Willie Nelson continues to inspire at 92. The outlaw country troubadour has announced that his creative inclination has ceased to fade and will culminate in the May 29, 2026, release of a new studio album titled Dream Chaser. The imminent arrival continues Nelson’s enduring creative partnership with producer and co‑writer Buddy Cannon. It drives home a narrative centered on themes of human connection, independent growth, and life on the road. 

Dream Chaser represents Nelson’s 79th solo studio LP and 156th overall contribution, delineating Nelson’s natural creative pulse. The forthcoming release maintains the artist’s classic songwriting style with a glint of modern perspective, aiming to strike a balance around the common threads of “perseverance, timing, and clarity,” according to the official press release. 

As an initial preview of the impending release, Nelson has turned over the title track, a co-write with Cannon and Nashville songwriter and 2025 tourmate, Bobby Tomberlin. The new number demonstrates Nelson’s natural inclination for storytelling at a horse’s pace. There’s no hurry when you’re trotting and recollecting tales of the past, and extending them to the next generation of cowboys and cowgirls. 

In addition to today’s preview, the set includes a forthcoming co-write with Bob Dylan, titled “I Can’t Read Your Mind,” which was previously referenced in a 2025 GQ article, in which Nelson recounts Dylan bringing him the idea, which was later passed to Cannon to reach final form. 

News of the new LP arrives just before Nelson’s Texas-fledged Luck Reunion, which begins tomorrow, March 19.
