Watch: Members of moe. and Umphrey’s McGee Share the Stage in New Hampshire
On Sunday, moe. and Umphrey’s McGee’s moementUM co-headlining run continued at Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, NH. The two groups have been switching off who headlines each night and, on this date, moe. played first and Umphrey’s McGee offered the second set.
As they have throughout the run, members of the two bands also came together at the end of the night for a joint encore. This time, the collaborative segment began with Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Brendan Bayliss and moe. guitarist Al Schnier taking on moe.’s “She Sends Me” and Tenacious D’s “Fuck Her Gently” as an acoustic duo. (Last June, at the Pour House in Charleston, SC, moe. revived the ’90s moe. staple for the first time since 2013 during a run of shows that celebrated the 1990s, and they have played it a few times since then, though this was Bayliss’ first-known take on the song). Next, Schnier stepped off the stage and the rest of Umphrey’s McGee emerged for one of their signature cuts, “In the Kitchen,” augmented by moe. guitarist Chuck Garvey and moe. percussionist Jim Loughlin. In a theatrical moment, moe.’s Vinnie Amico also emerged mid-song to replace Umphrey’s McGee Scotty Zwang on drums . Then, Zwang moved over to percussion as the number segued into “Young Lust” and, finally, the end of “In The Kitchen.”
The moe.mentUM Tour will continue at Nevermore Hall in Baltimore, MD tomorrow.
