LCD Soundsystem Announce Summer Residency at London’s O2 Academy Brixton

LCD Soundsystem will take their residency format across the pond this summer with a new booking at London’s O2 Academy Brixton. From June 12-22, the pioneering electronica outfit fronted by James Murphy will deliver eight performances; Sunday shows on June 15 and 22 are earlier than the rest, set to stage from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The band teased these performances a few days ago with projections at the overground Shoreditch High Street Station and a nearby parking garage, which read “You are here (again).” This guerilla foreshadowing was a callback to the same projections (bar the “again”) which previewed LCD Soundsystem’s debut series at O2 Academy Brixton in 2022. The upcoming sequel at the famed London venue will be only the group’s second European residency to date. Opener details will arrive as the stand approaches.
LCD Soundsystem’s new series announcement immediately precedes the outset of their 2025 touring, which will commence on Friday, March 7 with a headline performance at Phoenix, Ariz.’s M3F Fest. This show will set off the group’s recently announced spring tour, which includes 10 dates in San Diego, Austin, Texas, Dallas, New Orleans, and Atlanta from March 8 to May 4. Before moving up to London, the band will touch down in Europe for high billings at Primavera Sound Barcelona and Paris’ We Love Green on June 7 and 8.
In October, LCD Soundsystem heralded a new chapter with the premiere of “X-Ray Eyes” on NTS Radio, a techy, minimal production with a proto-Detroit backbeat that arrived as its first single since the full-throttle dance-punk of 2022’s “New Body Rhumba.” Shortly after, Primavera Sound mistakenly detailed that LCD’s set would present a long-awaited new album, encouraging an optimistic explanatory statement from Murphy. “It’s the first single of what’s shaping up to be a new album,” the frontman said of the new song and circulating rumors. “Don’t ask me when that is, because we’re still working on it. But it feels very good to be putting out new music.”
