Jerry Garcia: A Bluegrass Journey Farewell Weekend to Feature Performances by Sam Grisman Project, Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass, Plus More
On March 13 and 14, artist will take their talents to the Bluegrass Hall of Fame and Museum in Owensboro, Ky., in celebration of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead guitarist’s longstanding history as a bluegrass enthusiast and participant of the practice. In addition to exhibition tours, panel discussions, complimentary film screenings, and workshops, a special batch of live music will also be played in honor of the late great contributor to the bluegrass canon.
Dubbed the Farewell Weekend, Sam Grisman Project will set the musical pace for the occasion as the initial performers on Friday, March 13. The group is notorious for honoring the bandleader’s dad, David “Dawg” Grisman’s instrumental compositions, work with Old & In the Way, and acoustic partnership with Garcia, which yields today’s Deluxe rerelease of Not For Kids Only.
Saturday will see the arrival of Keller Williams, performing his brand of Grateful Grass. Meanwhile, not nights of the celebration will see a set of tunes titled Jerry & Gawg Revisited, played by Joe Craven, Jim Kerwin, Stu Allen, and Ronnie McCoury. Tickets and additional information on the two-day event can be found at www.bluegrasshall.org.
