The Jazz Mandolin Project will return in 2026 for its first tour in two decades. From Feb. 4-7, the beloved Burlington, Vt.-based outfit formed by genre-bending string master Jamie Masefield will set out on its first run of dates since the summer of 2004, embracing a new improvisational chemistry with bassist Danton Boller, trumpeter/multi-instrumentalist Michael “Mad Dog” Mavridoglou and Phish drummer Jon Fishman.
The Jazz Mandolin Project will begin its reunion tour from the group’s old stomping grounds, triumphantly returning to the stage at Burlington’s jam scene staple Higher Ground, the site of their first-ever hometown show in 1999. After the encore, they’ll truck down to Boston’s Paradise Rock Club on the following evening, then race to Brooklyn, N.Y.’s Brooklyn Bowl for an engagement on Feb. 6. On Feb. 7, the quartet will cap off their concise run with a stand at Kingston, N.Y.’s Assembly, just before they join Jam Cruise 22, sailing from Feb. 7-12.
The Jazz Mandolin Project’s origins date back to 1998, and the bebop-dixieland-bluegrass-free jazz-fusion outfit has hosted a rotating lineup for its occasional returns since. On Feb. 15, the band reunited for its first performance since 2010 as part of “Celebrating Sergei: An Analog Outpouring,” a tribute show to Burlington live music legend Sergei Ushakov at Nectar’s.
Tickets for the Jazz Mandolin Project’s reunion tour will go on sale this Friday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m. ET.
