Jam Scene Heavyweights and New Orleans Greats to Participate in A Dream We Dreamed Tribute Concert to Phil Lesh During Jazz Fest

A Crescent City tribute concert for the Grateful Dead’s late bassist, Phil Lesh, has been announced. The one-night musical occasion, A Dream We Dreamed, will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at New Orleans’ Joy Theatre, ahead of the final weekend of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Artist participation includes jam-scene heavy hitters/ Big Easy stalwarts such as George Porter Jr. and Ivan Neville, Dead & Company backbeat Jay Lane, moe.’s Vinnie Amico, Rob Derhak and Al Schnier, and second-generation Southern rock powerhouse Duane Betts. Also included is the Disco Biscuits’ Aron Magner, Terrapin Family Band’s Ross James, Phil & Friends participant Nicki Blum, TAB’s Jennifer Hartswick, and bassist Karina Rykman. 

The event arrives after March 14-17’s Unbroken Chain: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Phil Lesh at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y., and represents the latest in a series of homages to the late artist, who passed away on October 25, 2024, at age 84.

The aforementioned Capitol Theatre concert series will be hosted by Grahame Lesh & Friends, with featured guests [March 14-15] Rick Mitarotonda, Eric Krasno, Oteil Burbridge, Jason Crosby, John Molo and Hartswick. The lineup will change with the arrival of March 16’s Unbroken Chain event, with the arrival of Jackie Greene, Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams, Steve Molitz, and percussive constant Molo.
