Grateful Shred to Headline Rex Foundation’s Annual Benefit at The Fillmore in San Francisco

The Rex Foundation’s Annual Benefit will return on December 6, 2025. The giveback event, centered around raising awareness and funds through the Grateful Dead’s 1983-launched charity, which is committed to empowering the arts, extending necessary social services, and protecting the rights and dignity of indigenous peoples through community and educational efforts, will present musical contributors and event headliners, Grateful Shred.

The performers, known for their laid-back, California-cool approach to covering the Grateful Dead’s original songs, will offer two sets of music on The Fillmore stage in San Francisco. The evening is set to begin with a pre-show reception, featuring gourmet food, wine, and beer offerings courtesy of Silver Oak, Twomey, and Winery Sixteen 600. Attendees are encouraged to participate in a specialty, curated silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind art, Grateful Dead memorabilia, and other unique items.

Los Angeles-bred Grateful Shred is billed to feature Austin McCutchens, Dan Horne, John Lee Shannon, Adam MacDougall, Mikaela Davis, Austin Beede and Corey Rose. The band was featured in Relix’s July/August 2025 edition, following the release of their debut album, Might as Well. In an interview, Horne said, “It’s not like we’re trying to change our playing to be like somebody else’s. We all do our own thing, which is what’s authentic.”
