Gillian Welch and her longtime musical collaborator, David Rawlings, have renewed their intentions of paying homage to the Grateful Dead’s beloved 1981 double live album, Reckoning, on the road this spring. Due to popular demand, the pair has extended their live dates by adding four concerts to a series total of 11, expanding their road capacity with stops in two new cities: Nashville and Saxapahaw, N.C.

According to the duo’s latest touring update, the new live appearances have been tacked on to the top of their schedule, meaning they will now open their Reckoning run over two nights, April 3-4, at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl. Ultimately, the pair will follow up on April 6-7 at their second new location, the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, N.C.

Previously, Welch and Rawlings delivered an initial seven-night run that would pick up over three nights, April 9-11, at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. At this time, tickets only remain available for the April 9 concert; April 10 and 11 are sold out.

Similarly, the duo’s second night in Oakland, April 18, is at capacity, while open seats remain for night one, April 17. In addition to the aforementioned appearances, tickets are also available for the pair’s April 23 concert at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans.

Reckoning is the Grateful Dead’s sixth live album, featuring material originally performed and recorded in September and October 1980, and released as a double live LP the following year. The set highlights a range of band originals: “Dire Wolf,” “It Must Have Been the Roses,” “China Doll,” “Cassidy,” “To Lay Me Down,” “Bird Song,” and “Ripple” amid a plethora of cherished covers, “Oh Babe It Ain’t No Lie,” “Dark Hollow,” “Monkey and the Engineer,” “Rosa Lee McFall” and traditionals.

The newly expanded tour arrives after the release of Welch and Rawlings’ 10th studio album, Woodland, out now on all formats.
