Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia Celebrates Opening Night with Soulive, Questlove, George Porter Jr. and Tom Hamilton

On Nov. 4, Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia officially opened its doors and music fans danced along to the sounds of Soulive featuring George Porter Jr. as well as special guests Questlove and Tom Hamilton.

Highlights from the performance included a mostly-Soulive set one, followed by set two collaborations like “Sugaree” featuring Porter and Hamilton, and a show-stopping encore with Questlove and Porter leading on The Meters classics “Africa” and “Just Kissed My Baby.”

The new venue is located in Philly’s Fishtown neighborhood – right beside the city’s Fillmore – and its roster of upcoming shows includes The Slip (Nov. 16-17), Talib Kweli (Nov. 27), Yola (Feb. 15), Lettuce (April 1-2) and many more.

Said co-founder Peter Shapiro, “Philadelphia has given us so many of the greatest names in rock, soul, funk, jazz, and hip hop. That deep history, along with Live Nation’s success and contributions in the Fishtown neighborhood made us excited to partner with Geoff Gordon and his Live Nation team in bringing Brooklyn Bowl to Philadelphia. Given everything we all have been through over the last couple years, now is definitely the right time for Philly and Brooklyn to come together as one family.”

Wrote GPJ afterwards, “What a beautiful night! Thank you Philly!Thank you Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia! Thank you Soulive! Thank you Questlove!”
