Talib Kweli Welcomes Bob James and Slick Rick at The Blue Note (A Gallery)

On Monday, Jan. 24, Talib Kweli and his live band welcomed jazz legend Bob James and iconic English-American rapper and record producer Slick Rick at The Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City.
The night was billed as “A Historic Night of Soul Samples & Rhymes.” James’ tracks have been sampled since the dawn of hip-hip with notable uses by Run-D.M.C., Ghostface Killah, DJ Jazzy Jeff and more–the evening paid ample tribute to his influence.
