On Wednesday, Tedeschi Trucks Band resumed their ongoing, venue-specific residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre. Night eight brought only a sampling of their new LP, Future Soul, two tracks, specifically “I Got You” and “Under the Knife.” Rather than rely on their own songs, the troupe picked up a whopping 11 covers, ranging from well-regarded pieces that touched on Derek and the Dominos, Bob Dylan, Howlin’ Wolf, Sly and the Family Stone, and other songbooks, which helped transport the audience out of the current moment and time-travel through music history.
On location was photographer Bill Kelly, who shared his stills from the electrifying Big Apple performance. After taking Thursday off, TTB will resume their Beacon run with two final shows, slated for tonight, Friday, March 27, and tomorrow, Saturday, March 28. Both performances are sold out.
