Video Premiere: Charlie Wooton Project “Come On Come Over”

The Charlie Wooton Project, led by its namesake Louisiana-born bassist/songwriter, released their latest effort, Blue Basso, back in August, and today we premiere the video for album track “Come On Come Over.”

The bouncy, soulful, funk-infused track features a melodic bass-and-guitar hook and powerful vocals from Arsène DeLay. The video, directed by Deon Williams, includes cameos from fellow Louisiana musicians Samanta Fish and Jonathon Long, and Wooton’s band also includes guitarist Daniel Groover, keyboardist Keiko Komaki and drummer Jermal Watkins.

“The spirit of Jaco Pastorius runs throughout Blue Basso, though ‘Come On Come Over’ is the only Pastorius cover on the record—it was written by the legendary bassist in 1978,” the band explains to Relix. “The video captures and portrays the demand for justice and social change so eloquently explained by the soulful Arsène DeLay, ‘When there is heat on the streets, you got to move your feet.'”
