Trey Anastasio with the Atlanta Symphony

February 10, 2012

Last night Trey Anastasio kicked off his first-ever orchestral tour at Atlanta, GA’s Atlanta Symphony Hall. The evening included some songs that have fallen out of Phish and Trey Anastasio Band’s rotation like “Time Turns Elastic,” “If I could,” “Let Me Lie” and “Inlaw Josie Wales.” During his encore last night, Anastasio also debuted his orchestra version of The Beatles’ Abbey Road suite (Anastasio played an electric version of the classic suite with 70 Volt Parade a few years ago). The Phish classic “Stash,” which Anastasio performed with the Scorchio Quintet in 2010, also made its formal symphony debut, and the Bar 17 gem “Goodbye Head,” which the guitarist played with a string section during a solo gig, was performed with a larger orchestra for the first time. Here are a few clips from the performance.
