Toyesauce is an animated horn-infused instrumental funk and jam project led by guitarist Leon Toye. The group’s forthcoming eponymous EP was recorded entirely remotely, which enabled Toye to enlist a variety of notable guests. Toye initiated each of the tracks in his Nashville home studio with saxophonist Troy Atkins and then sent out the music to a list of collaborators that includes Stanton Moore, George Porter Jr., Jeff Coffin, Kevin McKinney and Terence Higgins. Toye reflects, “I love surrounding myself with smarter and more talented people. It’s uncomfortable, but a motivating and fantastic learning opportunity.”

Today we are premiering “Chicken” from the forthcoming release. The song finds Toye and Atkins joined by Stanton Moore, as well as Roy Agee, Emmanuel Echem, Ryan Connors and Craig Glaiberman. Toye notes, “Stanton Moore is a ball of energy and a stand-up guy. I’m a long-standing Galactic fan, so collaborating with him and the many other gifted musicians on this project has truly been an honor.”
