Singer-songwriters Phoebe Bridgers and Conor Oberst brought their superduo project, Better Oblivion Community Center, to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts recently, offering a stripped-down performance of three tracks from their self-titled debut album.

The two indie powerhouses—backed by a couple of their touring band members, Christian Lee Hutson and Emily Retsas, and showcasing their natural goofiness by sitting down for one song “to avoid choreography” and singing into a fake chopstick mic—ran through album standouts “Dylan Thomas,” “Exception to the Rule” and “My City,” with the final tune featuring NPR Music’s own Bob Boilen on whirly tube. (Boilen writes that he was “thrilled to be part of this magical act” for his Tiny Desk debut.)
