Eggy Welcomes Ross Bogan in Westport
Eggy returned to Westport, CT’s Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts for a big home-state show on Saturday. It was the band’s first time at the venue since 2022, when they supported Twiddle, and fourth time overall performing at the outdoor space since their inaugural show there in 2019, though guitarist Jake Brownstein sat in with the Disco Biscuits at the popular Westport venue this past June. It was also the group’s first ticketed headlining show at Levitt, making Eggy one of only a few bands to play as part of the venue’s free series and return for a hard-ticket show.
Doom Flamingo keyboardist Ross Bogan opened the night with a DJ set and then Tom Hamilton played, before the Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist and his band made their way to Highland Park, IL to support Billy Idol at the Ravinia Festival. During Eggy’s headlining spot at the Levitt Pavilion, the quartet also invited Bogan back to the stage to add some modular synth to a jamtronica-approved cover of Radiohead’s “Subterranean Homesick Alien.” Eggy has covered the tune on occasion since debuting it at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl during a Purim show in 2024; Brownstein and Bogan first displayed their onstage chemistry when the Eggy guitarist joined Bogan’s Wolf Mask project for some live gigs.
Later in the show, Eggy also busted out their original “So Long” for the first time since November 30, 2024, the only other occasion the band has performed the track from their Waiting Game album in concert. At that show, which was held at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre, members of evening co-headliners Dogs in a Pile and Melt, whose singer Veronica Stewart-Frommer appears on the studio version of “So Long,” sat in for the live debut of the cut.
Eggy will perform at Wilmington, NC’s Bowstring Brewyard on July 15 will Bogan will appear at Kent, CT’s Le Getaway event form October 23-25, where he will perform a Slasher Disco set.
