On Saturday, Oct. 25, Daniel Donato touched down in Port Chester, N.Y. for another stop on his cross-country fall tour. Onstage at The Capitol Theatre, the celebrated Nashville axeman and his Cosmic Country ensemble tore through a two-set showcase of their tried and true favorites, including treatments of “Lady Justice,” “Sunshine In The Rain (Strange Presence),” “Half Moon Night,” “Fortunate Sparrow,” “Blame the Train” and “Sugar Shack.” To finish off the performance, Donato recalled a previous experience on the historic stage when he joined in Phil Lesh’s Phil & Friends ensemble. In honor of the legendary artist and formative influence, as well as the Grateful Dead’s legacy at The Capitol Theatre, Donato and company debuted a new cover of Jerry Garcia’s “Rubin and Cherise,” followed by the Dead’s “Cumberland Blues,” “Loser” and “Samson and Delilah.”
