Last week, Bleecker Street shared the long-awaited official trailer for Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. Today, anticipation for the long-awaited sequel to the legendary 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap has shot to a new high with the announcement of the film’s official soundtrack, previewed by the streaming release of a new take on the unforgettable “Stonehenge” featuring Elton John. Making a big thing of it would be a good idea.

“Stonehenge” is available now on all streaming platforms as the first of 13 tracks, including returns to other classics “Big Bottom” with Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, “Cups and Cakes” with Paul McCartney and “(Listen to The) Flower People,” also boasting a performance from John. The first single is paired with a music video of its placement in the sequel, which shows the Rocket Man rising from beneath the stage to belt about the place where the demons dwell and the banshees live–and they do live well. The End Continues is the fourth album from the fictional outfit Spinal Tap, following their original film soundtrack This Is Spinal Tap, 1992’s Break Like the Wind and 2009’s Back from the Dead.

Spinal Tap II follows the final concert for the fractious hair metal outfit of David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel and Derek Smalls, portrayed 41 years later as aging small-time rockers by the original cast of Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer. The starring trio co-wrote the sequel alongside director Rob Reiner, who also reprises his role as filmmaker Martin “Marty” Di Bergi. The band still has not found a steady drummer as their 11th “sneezed himself into oblivion,” the latest in a series of bizarre and unfortunate incidents. In the trailer, Questlove declines an invitation to be the 12th, saying, “I don’t want to die.”

Beyond Questlove, Spinal Tap II will feature on-screen guest appearances from Brooks, Yearwood, Chad Smith, Lars Ulrich and Paul McCartney, who praises the band’s poetic songwriting on “Big Bottom.” Other confirmed cast members include Fran Drescher, John Michael Higgins, Chris Addison and Paul Shaffer.

Spinal Tap II: The End Continues arrives in theaters on September 12. Find the soundtrack’s full tracklist below.
