In an interview for a Q&A to be published in the forthcoming April/May issue of Relix, Lollapalooza founder and figurehead Perry Farrell gave fans a sneak peek at what the festival is up to for its 20th anniversary in addition to a big hint as to who one of the headliners is (the festival has yet to officially announce its lineup).

‘[The electronic themed] Perry’s Area is indicative of it what I’m trying to do’take dance music out of just one zone and put it onto the mainstage,’ Farrell said. ‘I can’t tell you who’s gonna be headlining this year, but one of the headliners is a dance act. One of my ideas to go along with that’since Lollapalooza [in Chicago] ends at 11 o’clock’was to bring the show over the weekend into the after party realm. The later the night goes, the more it plays into the world of house music and dance music in general.’

Given that there are very few electronic acts big enough to fill a headlining Lollpalooza slot, speculation points readily to Daft Punk, The Prodigy or, most likely in this writer’s opinion, deadmau5.

Farrell, who will be Chile next month for the international debut of Lollapalooza, is currently recording a new Jane’s Addiction album with help from TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek in addition to simultaneously cutting two electronic-based solo projects. Though he’s very excited about this year’s two festivals, he’s already looking to the future of Lollapalooza: ‘Look man, I’ve got plans for next year that are going to be state of the art and they’re a separation from what was happened over the last 20 years.’
