Another New Panic Disc (New Shows Too)

July 26, 2010

Widespread Panic will release the archival album Live In The Classic City II on September 28. The two-disc/three-vinyl album will arrive on ATO records, the same label that released the band’s new studio disc Dirty Side Down. Live In The Classic City II captures additional performances from the band’s famed run at Athens, GA’s Classic Center Theater from April 1-3. That run of shows marked the first time Widespread Panic asked their fans to leave their taping equipment at home. The album features appearances by several guests, including R.E.M.s’ Mike Mills, longtime percussionist collaborator Arvin Scott, producer John Keane, Bloodkin’s Daniel Hutchens and vocalist Anne Richmond Boston. 2002’s Live In The Classic City I,  which was recorded at the same run of shows, featured appearances by R.E.M.’s Bill Berry, Chuck Leavell, Randall Bramblett, Col. Bruce Hampton and Derek Trucks.
