Various Artists : Best of Bonnaroo

The word Bonnaroo derives from French for “good” and “street,” and in the vernacular of New Orleans’ Ninth Ward, it quite literally translates to “a good time.” But a good time can also make for a good cause and Best of Bonnaroo is precisely that with its 17 artist-selected, best-of performances available for free download in a call to action for climate change. Well-balanced between the festival’s jamband roots and mainstream growth, tracks range from the likes of Gov’t Mule to Death Cab For Cutie. Jack Johnson’s long-time campaign for environmental justice renders a particularly apt “Inaudible Melodies,” the laidback crooner urging, “Slow down everyone, you’re moving to fast.” And Phish’s much-celebrated 2009 appearance at the festival delivers a euphoric “Kill Devil Falls” that leaves you feeling good, while doing good.
