Tim Heidecker: In Glendale

Tim Heidecker, of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! fame, plays it relatively straight on his solo rock-dude debut, In Glendale. Like Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson, or my favorite new story-songer Benjamin Dean Wilson (check out Small Talk!), it’s funny as shit and truer than true at the same time. Heidecker addresses hangovers (“Work From Home”), money troubles (“When the Cash Runs Out”) and parenting (“I’m cleanin’ up the dog shit, cleanin’ up the baby shit/ Hey, on my weekend now!”) in companionable mid-tempo tracks suggesting he’s no less damaged than the next working dude.
