Tim Reynolds: The Limbic System

Jarrod Michael Dicker on October 22, 2010

Self-released

Turning away from his staple electric trio, Tim Reynolds unplugs on his latest project, the appropriately titled The Limbic System. The acoustic two-disc set showcases Reynolds’ artistic spectrum, offering one disc of instrumental music and another of vocal tracks. Presenting material dating back to 2007, Reynolds’ corralled 26 road-tested tracks that lace various melodies and inspirations atop a seasoned palette of rock, blues and classical influences. The guitarist’s Robert Johnson-inspired, soft vocal/hard riffs sound comes through on “Old Bones Rolling” and his knack for fast paced, finger-picking blues shines through on “Smells So Sweet.” Known extensively for his contributions to the Dave Matthews Band, here, Reynolds nods to those fans that would rather see his creativity front and center rather than idle, stage right.
