As they have proved during the choice festival sets they’ve earned, The Get Right Band are capable of veering from rock to reggae with occasional detours toward funk and blues with ease. It’s little wonder things feel uncommonly easy and assured: Guitarist/vocalist Silas Durocher and bassist Jesse Gentry have played together since middle school, and with drummer Jian-Claude Mears setting the pace, their ability to vary the tempo seems like second nature. Nevertheless, the album’s best melodies are those left for the end of the set, particularly as applied to “Heartbreak Kid,” “Write This Song for You” and “If I Forget,” all of which allow the band’s sentimental side to shine through. Consider The Get Right Band a perfect party band, well suited for any occasion where maintaining the right vibe is of prime importance.
