The Rapture: In the Grace of Your Love

The Rapture may have benefited from the best accidental marketing campaign ever. A few days after the supposed religious rapture this past May – the presumed end of the world – the New York electro-rock band announced that they planned to release their first new album in five years. Happy coincidence or good timing? Either way, the post-punk trio, who recorded the new disc with producer Philippe Zdar (Phoenix), have crafted something that makes you glad that life on Earth didn’t cease. “Miss You,” an angular, hand-clapping rocker, could drag even the most reluctant listener to their feet while “Never Die Again” is a disco-tinged dance number reminiscent of the band’s past releases. First single “How Deep Is Your Love?” embodies the boisterous spirit of all 11 songs – however The Rapture combines their instruments, it always ends up sounding like a party.
