Signal Path: Clash

Self-released
Marking its return after a brief hiatus, the livetronica band Signal Path is giving away its first album in almost two years for free online. Clash shows the band’s growth during this period, adding a hip-hop sound to the band’s electronic formula and veering away from electronic/jam into more dub-step/drum-and-bass territory. The album kicks off with a calm and spacey sound but soon vocal samples are thrown into the mix balancing these two styles and setting up the listener for what is to follow. “Math Machine” mixes glitchy vocals and a storm of electronic music over a funky keyboard and jazz guitar. The song definitely deserves a spot on a dance party play list. Also earning spots on that playlist: “Room Full of Monsters” and “Deep Field” which both contain enough punch to fulfill any dub-stepper’s needs. With its rapid drum beat and haunting guitar, the song seems to define Signal Path’s identity and new direction.
