Joe Bonamassa: Driving Towards Daylight

J&R Adventures
Joe Bonamassa’s Driving Towards Daylight is the 30-something Upstate New York native’s return to his birthright Delta blues sound. But guitar virtuoso Bonamassa and his hand-selected session players, including Aerosmith’s Brad Whitford and drummer Anton Fig, aren’t anyone’s imitators. Listen to the almost pugnacious take on Howlin’ Wolf’s “Who’s Been Talking.’” Bonamassa uses the spoken intro to urge the musicians to “step it up a little,” setting the stage for a thunderous, wailing guitar heavy rendition. You’ll hear the same British styled blues rock arrangements – think Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and early Ian Anderson – on Tom Waits’ “New Coat of Paint,” and Bonamassa’s original tunes including “Dislocated Boy.” Bonamassa is back, proudly sporting his blues-rock crown.
