Returning to the studio after a 9-year absence, Austin, Texas axe-gunslinger Jimmie Vaughan canvases a scenic trip through covers which have influenced not only his sound, but also the foundations of blues and rock. Sure, most of these songs have been hidden, but Vaughan also finds a way to dust them off and breathe new life into them by concentrating on rhythmic blues, penetrating soul music and the swing of early rock – neither patient nor subtle, these songs roll forward into the modern era with an invigorating kick from Vaughan and are enhanced by some genuinely spot-on vocals on a few tracks from Lou Ann Barton and Bill Willis. The Fabulous Thunderbirds guitarist still burns with a fresh influential spark.
